Great.  Personally, we don't use ~/public_html at twilley.org -- we
use /web/home/<username> -- so I like solutions that can work in
either place.  Any solution which doesn't touch the xastir source is a
good solution to me.

Oh, now is probably a good time to mention this: wouldn't  
~/.xastir/tmp/xastir_<user>_snapshot.png look better as
~/.xastir/tmp/xastir_snapshot.png ?  The code would be a heck of a lot
cleaner as a result, and there's no win to having two references to
the username.
