I caught my station in full transmit two times now. Using AX.25 TNC,
with PK-88 in KISS mode.
Here's the latest packet that did it:
K6AMF-14>APK101,FIELDR*,WIDE7-2,RELAY,TRACE,RELAY::N7ZMR-7 :ackL
And here is the result:
K6AMF-14>APK101,FIELDR*,WIDE7-2,WE7U-3*,TRACE,RELAY::N7ZMR-7 :ackL
K6AMF-14>APK101,FIELDR*,WIDE7-2,WE7U-3*,TRACE,RELAY::N7ZMR-7 :ackL

It looks like it might be the two instances of RELAY in the packet
that are causing the trouble. We just got a new digi in southern OR
which completed the path southward down to CA. That might be why I
just started to get these packets and noticed the problem.
Just a warning for anyone running with RELAY digipeat on. Take care
of your finals. I threw my radio into low-power mode after it
happened the first time (until I could explain/fix the problem), so
hopefully they didn't get damaged this time around.
I hope I'll get time tonight to look at the problem, but it might not
get fixed until later on this weekend.
