Actually, on the wind-barbs, the triangle (pennant) and square (flag) may or may not be filled in (although they usually are for clarity). The actual specifications simply dictate the shape. Filling is specifically optional, and, I used to get NWS/NOAA WX products with outline graphics. Owen
