I'll have you know that I didn't break CVS. :-)  If you want to go
back to CVS, you need to delete my acinclude.m4 file, update your CVS
checkout, then run ./bootstrap.sh and ./configure.

This is something I've just learned.  I'm testing two approaches --
adding another suffix (.dylib) to .a and .so, and moving to
AC_CHECK_LIB().  I'm focusing on the latter.
