[Xastir-dev] Plotting a GPS point on a map

To expand just a little bit, in most cases, would you need to reproject 
the data, or could you live with the more simplistic lon/lat uprojected 
view?  The rectilinear (unprojected) map is easy to visualize and while 
not exactly proportionally true, it's usually "good enough" for lower 
latitudes.

If your mission requires better representation, then I recommend you 
investigate the proj-4 library as an initial starting point.
