As a sort-of-side-note: If a user is using Shapefile maps and we use those 
for determining the route... Couldn't we build a new shapefile map with just 
the segments that were determined to be "the path" and store it in the tmp 
dir and have Xastir draw it with a bright color and a width of n+2 where n 
is the original width of the segment.

This doesn't have any bearing on finding the mapped path, but would that be 
a relatively easy way to display the results of such a path search?
