That's probably it.  Duh.  Silly me.

I didn't get a lot of time to look at it earlier today, and don't
have a lot of time tonight either.  I backed out the changes I made.

If you have the correct fix, feel free to put the changes back in
and tweak it properly.

One should be able to create a dummy NMEA-format packet in a log
file, suck it back in to Xastir, and watch it do it's thing.
