[Xastir-dev] What I learned about SF and CVS today (fwd)

I sent this to Tom already but the Devel list should know about it as well.

While talking to the SF admin about the open ticket, we also discussed this:

--------------
Me: "BTW: We converted to the new SF a month or two back, but our CVS
repository has not been converted to a different type of revision control yet.
I'm not sure that's related to the problem we're having today, but perhaps
there are other things that haven't made the switch yet too?"

Them: "As for CVS, that's not going to be converted, we're continuing limited
support for CVS with upgraded projects only (new projects can't create CVS
repos). And by limited support, I mean we'll continue to support access to that
feature as it is now, but it won't ever use the new integrated code browser
that we have for svn/git/hg."

"And to be clear, we don't do any automated migration of a repository to a
different type. If you want to switch to a different repository type, you'll
need to do that on your own (though I can provide some pointers/instruction if
you want to go that route)"
--------------

FWIW: I'd vote for going to Git (or even Hg) instead of SVN. From what I hear
you can check out _just_ the latest rev from Git with the proper flags, which I
know was one of your concerns. In any case, it sounds like we don't have to
make that decision anytime soon.
