Because you're not running TAPR-2 style commands in your firmware,
the commands in tnc-startup.sys won't work for your TNC.  What you
need is either the equivalent commands for TheFirmware, or you need
to throw your TNC into KISS mode (does TF2.7b have that?) and then
use the Serial KISS TNC interface instead.
