[Xastir] Xastir daemon mode or Igate sofware for FreeBSD?

Many on the list (including yours truly) run Xastir under VNC
(http://www.realvnc.com/). That allows the program to run on a headless
box all the time. Dropping the VNC connection doesn't end the X-session
on the box. Will this work better for you in the interim?

VNC is cheaper than a new monitor. Heck, VNC is cheaper than a KVM
switch. (^8

Right now I am using Xastir by exporting the display via ssh, but I'm looking for either a way to operate Xastir as a daemon (not needing a display) or failing that, software that others have found good for running an Igate on FreeBSD.
