When you say we drop the packets on the floor, is that before or after 
Xastir handles it "internally"? If Xastir hears a general query "?APRS" 
packet on RF, does it now ignore it totally as part of the "not gating from 
RF to Inet"?

By the way: what does the "?APRS" general query do? Is it supposed to cause 
all clients to report their position, like a kind of "who's out there, let 
me know" system?
