[Xastir] Too many crashes

I have Xastir 1.2 installed on my Suse 8.2.   Everything looks ok except the 
frequent crashes. I can't keep Xastir up much more than a day. Today i had 
three crashes.

The most frequent error that comes up is :
X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for 
operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  56 (X_ChangeGC)
  Value in failed request:  0x8d4
  Serial number of failed request:  1181403
  Current serial number in output stream:  1181404

There are also quite a few for:
   Major opcode of failed request:  58 (X_SetDashes)

Xastir is still very new to me and I have found no clues. Can someone help me 
on this?
