[Xastir] Too many crashes

Forgot to ask.  Are these X11 crashes, Linux crashes, or Xastir
crashes?

Have you had Linux installed on that box before?  Any chance the
memory/motherboard/cpu/cpu-fan might be questionable?

I've found a lot of questionable hardware before by installing Linux
on what appeared to be working hardware under Windows.

Just a possibility.

What video card chipset are you using?  I've had a lot of trouble
with certain older chipsets.
