I have no problems now with other apps. The only ones I am running  are Kmail, 
Konqueror and Open Office.

Actually I am running now without maps. The only map I have ever used was 
Tigermap. I lost that last week when I did a CVS update. I no longer have 
"enable Tigermap" on the map menu.
