That means that the directory that it was put in is not classified
as a system directory on Slackware 8.1.  Interesting.  I could add
another path in the configure.ac file, but that won't help you
unless you have automake 1.6.3+ and autoconf 1.53+ on that machine
in order to run the bootstrap.sh script.

Jack is in the middle of re-working configure.ac to better support
all of these different directories that the various OS'es call out,
but I could do a quick hack to support you.
