Since Gerry reported it with Tigermaps, I'd suggest that map_tiger.c
might be a good place to start looking.

I stopped using GDB a long time back, at the point where it was
having trouble with multi-threaded programs like Xastir.  Hopefully
the threading patches have been rolled into the main GDB sources by
now.  I suppose I should get back to using it again.

Do you use any front-ends with it?  Used UPS at all?
