[Xastir] HSP cable

After getting my hands on a cheap GPS, I tried my hand at building an 
HSP adapter.
I cannot seem to get it to work properly, and I'm not sure if I have 
something
misconfigured or a problem with the HSP itself.

Xastir works fine with just the serial cable and no GPS. I've got the 
KPC3 set to 4800 8N1. When I attach the HSP and GPS, Xastir only sees 
the GPS, I don't get anything from the TNC. Yes, I changed the interface 
to HSP.

Any ideas? I'm not quite sure how I should trouble shoot the HSP, so 
links to appropriate places would help as well as giving me the answer 
directly.
