[Xastir] RH9 compile problems

Jacob, i of course have the 3-CD set of RH9.
How do i get to the "package update screen" on
(i assume) Disk 1?  Put Disk 1 into the CD
drive before i turn on the machine?

I want to try doing that before i wipe the HD
by doing the partition thing.

Up to now i've been relying on KDE's program
install interface to install everything, but 
maybe there's more to RH9 than KDE is telling 
me.
