[Xastir] shapproj error

You shouldn't need shpproj to do what you want.  Look at the "Map
Pointers" link off the www.xastir.org page, click on the link for
"2003 Tiger Maps" or some-such, and download the proper ones for
your county/state.

You'll probably want to compile in the pcre library and use the
"--with-dbfawk" flag to configure, then you'll have the latest
(2003) street maps for your area.

You'll also need to update to the latest Tom Russo tgr2shp.dbfawk
file so that these maps look ok in Xastir.  The latest CVS Xastir
has that file in it, or you can get it from Tom's site (listed in
README.MAPS).

With regard to that particular problem, make sure you have Shapelib
installed (but you still don't need "shproj") and then re-run the
configure/make/make install for Xastir.

Have you used Shapefiles before and know that you have things
compiled into Xastir properly to use them?

Is there some problem with datum/projection that you're seeing?
