Thanks to all who helped me get these isues (see STUPID Xastir posts) 
resolved.  Curt it appears that the problem was the widget set I had compiled 
against.  Might be worth some type of explaniation in the documentation.
Open Motif is the way to go for sure, at least as I see it.  The scroll 
problems are resolved and the program seems to run a tad faster as well!
