[Xastir] How is XASTIR programmed ?

Curious to know how XASTIR is programmed ?

Does the programming team use the C language ?

Does it use any existing or built in support applications ?

I know PERL, I would like to start looking at writing some software in
LINUX.

Can someone point me ?

I have done the Visual Basic stint , not its LINUX's turn.

I see tk, widgets, gcc compilers stdlibs etc.
