Yes, this is very true. Perhaps I can keep all the data in available from the Tiger Line files, and generate a wide number of shapefile layers to satify the majority of needs. Groups of various layers could then be bundled seperatly for distribution.

It is amazing what is in the Tiger files: political districts, traffic patterns, ethnical density, sorority houses.....
