Hi,

Just like Curt mentioned, probably no C compiler installed. Some time ago I
described how to install redhat 9.0 to make Xastir compile. It should be
somewhere in the archives.

It sounds like you have no development environment on your RedHat
system.  You'll need to install more packages to get there.

What happens if you type "gcc -v" in an xterm?

Perhaps someone with a RedHat system will answer you with the
specifics.
