[Xastir] Compiling problems

Somewhere between desperation and the start of this whole process I managed
to upgrade GCC to 3.4.0, which might be related. I'm tried to downgrade to
3.3.4 but that didn't help either.

            I've been fighting with Xastir on two different boxes. First was
an old redhat 8.0 box that worked awesome on 1.1.4 but when upgraded (bad
timing I think) I got the blue tigermaps instead of the regularly colored
maps. Now I'm on a Debian box (new hardware too) trying 1.3.2 and 1.3.3 with
the same results:
