You can put in a "return();" in db.c:draw_range_scale() right near
the top after the variable declarations, and another in
db.c:draw_ruler() in a similar location and recompile Xastir.
A simpler method would be to use XV or ImageMagick and crop the
bottom few pixels off the images.
