[Xastir] Compression algorithm problem with DRGs

Sorry if this has been asked, I looked through the archives as best as I
could but didn't find an answer to this question.

 

I'm having problems loading geotiff files in Xastir 1.3.1 CVS (from last
week) while working in Windows (Cygwin) and in Linux (Fedora Core 1). The
problem I'm having is with virtually all of the DRG files I've downloaded.
The error I'm getting is as follows.

 

/usr/local/share/xastir/maps/o44123C4.tif: Compression algorithm does not
support random access.

I've tried downloads from 2 different sourcs, Oregon State University and
the Oregon State GIS Department. Some of the DRGs I got from them work fine,
and I don't get these errors with, but most of them I get these errors. I'm
able to load the images in Gimp or Photoshop, but Xastir won't display them.
I started working on this last week, so I have the latest versions of all of
the libraries, and I've tried it with slightly older versions of most of
them, including an older version of Xastir, same problem.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
