[Xastir] disgruntaled with Xastir

weather alerts are and have been disabled the whole time.
"top" just shows a single process id and boy is it busy!!
"ps aux | grep xastir"  shows 8 threads? Don't know which one is which, since 
there is no more info returned by "ps"

I have tamed it down some by killing and restarting the program but I still 
see the cpu time climbing. has gone from 4% to 35% in 10 minutes!!
