[Xastir] Shapefile Question

Yes, it seems odd that you'd need to.  But that INSTALL document does have
a lot of compiled wisdom from all the folks who have tried to get xastir
doing what they want, and is a good thing to look in when trying to get things
going.

Do you mean you'd like the weather alerts not to obliterate the maps?  
I have noticed that sometimes maps are pretty unreadable with alerts on, but
I don't see how one could get around that --- if you can see the alert, it's
gotta be on top of something.

With enough work, it might be possible to get alert counties to have a 
selectable map layer, rather than always being drawn last.  They could then be
set to live at any level you wanted, so your vector maps could be layered on
top of them, but your alert counties be on top of any raster layers.

That might make things much nicer to look at.  But the way the map drawing
code is structured might make it difficult to make wx alerts fit in with the
layering scheme of the other maps.
