[Xastir] Knoppix HD install and Xastir

Has anyone played with getting Xastir to run on Knoppix?  I am having 
issues with getting lesstif installed.  I have performed the HD install 
on a K6-2 500MHz 296 megs ram pc.  Kpackage manager shows lesstif 
0.93.18-5 to be installed ok.  I did get the debian package for this. 
When I run ./configure for Xastir, I get shutdown at the check for Motif 
headers.  Am I missing or doing something wrong?
