If it's THAT easy, it could be added to Xastir.

I'd suggest that if you write something that would connect to a
server and do this, it might be good to expand it to handle a TNC on
a serial port, perhaps a KISS-mode TNC as well.  That way you could
run a laptop at an event with a TNC/radio, and send out 802.11b or
802.11h multicast.
