[Xastir] Which version of Linux for older computers?

I wouldn't worry so much about which version, as I would about "what's running" under the current version.

Build a custom kernel with as little as possible. Turn off all of the apps that are running that you are not using, etc.

Let me know if you need any help with any of this.
