Got Xastir running off the internet once again. Now I would like to try
getting it up and running of VHF. Please remember that what little
knowledge I have about APRS comes from the WIN side. But I'm learning it
under Linux. I would like to use it with my Yaesu FT-817. I think that I
have a set of cables that should work. They are the EZPSK cables from
Saratoga. If I were running WIN I would be using the AGWP engine. I'm
running KUbuntu and looking with Synaptic Program Manager I came across
this description:
****************************************************************************************
Sound Card Amateur Packet Radio Modems
This package contains the driver and diagnostic utility for the
userspace SoundModem suite by Thomas Sailer.

This package allows you to use any soundcard supported by the kernel as
an Amateur Packet Radio modem.
*****************************************************************************************
Will this be a usable piece of soft ware ? If not, what would you
recommend.
Thanks Mike WN5PMR
