For that last, the timestamp on the added map files has to be newer
than Xastir's index file.  That's not always the case when you add
maps.  Just watch out for that.  Sometimes you either need to
"touch" each file, which gives them a new timestamp, then do the
"index new maps" option, or else reindex all which should index them
no matter how old/new the files are.
