[Xastir] Xastir with KPC 3+ TNC no xmit

Hi all,

A slight cry for help.

I have a Kenwood TM 251e and a KPC3 + on my desk here for the past few
months. I'll spare you from the procrastination excuses, but I need to
get this back up.

I have suggested using Xastir as a digi (low usage, but usage
nonetheless) here in Dublin, as before this UIView was running.

The main reason the guy running wanted to change from UIView was there
was up-to 24 hours lag in UIView processing the packets. It was nice
being able to track yourself as you travelled around. :)

So, as an interim measure before I try and get JavAprsRvr running, I
suggested using Xastir..its waay better.

So, I have Xastir v1.9.0 built from Ubuntu package (I know, I'll get
to building it from source shortly) running on Ubuntu  2.6.22-14.

I am using /dev/ttyUSB0

I have +s xastir runing in /usr/bin/

I am using startup script
/usr/local/share/xastir/config/start-up.kpc3, and no stop script.

At Xastir startup console tells me:
File is not a regular file: /usr/local/share/xastir/config/
Skipping send to TNC

When I beacon from my D7, the Rcv and Con LEDs on the TNC light, but
not xmit LED.

When I press Transmit now! on Xastir Interface menu, in the tnc.log I get:

but no xmit LED.

I am sure its something really stupid and small, but this is my first
try with an external TNC.

I have also tried this on my MacBook with Xastir v1.9.1 built from
source running on Darwin Kernel Version 8.10.1.

Any help, pointers, constructive criticism would be much appreciated!
