The problem with the fields not showing up in the timings menu can be caused
by OpenMotif 2.3.  You can grab version 2.2.4 at http://www.openmotif.org/ or
if you are using OpenSUSE Linux, you can follow the instructions in
the HowTo:OpenSUSE
10.2 <http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo:OpenSUSE_10.2>

I had the same problem, and replacing OpenMotif 2.3 with 2.2.4 fixed it.
