[Xastir] Cigar

I am back again on this subject. Can someone explain the difference 
between Gnome and KDE,  with the restricted drivers installed, whereby 
Xastir produces the cigar shaped object when you try to access the 
Interface menu if you are running Gnome, but does not if you are using KDE?
I can use Xastir under KDE fine, but don't like the KDE menu compared to 
Gnome. Maybe I am in the wrong place.
