crud.  I was suspecting something like this, but couldn't get
consistent crashes so didn't go that route.

My old old machine at work crashed every time before ever displaying a
map; I installed 1.9.2 (no other changes) and it's been running for a
couple of days.  The leopard machine at home will run for a day or two
before it blows up; seems to be more susceptible if there are weather
alerts?  That's subjective.

I'll switch back to the latest CVS on the machine that crashes
consistently and see if I can get more data.
