Hi all,
I have been using consistently VBox Puel (site download - not
opensource) and it has served me nicely under ubuntu 8.10, 9.04 and now
under 9.10. In amateur radio I use it to control via USB my Kenwood HF
rigs with no issues at all and generically I do PC suites for phones and
itunes sync without problems. In the office (everything is Ubuntu there)
I have set up a VBox XP VM for devices like HP scanners, that are not
supported by XSANE and these work nicely too. If one has a common
storage area then issues are vastly simplified...so I can recommend that
option.
The only issue I had was PCALE under XP VBox'ed VM on ubuntu hosts but
this is related to PCALE craving native windows soundcard management.
Cheers
