[Xastir] "range" circles

What caused this yellow circle to be displayed? Last night I also
noticed a light blue half-circle with what appeared to be a line
denoting direction near is center, but it was gone within a few
seconds of my noticing it.

I know there are probably normal everyday occurances, but I am rather
new to xastir. I am truly try to learn all it has to offer.
