OS X does use CUPS as a print server.  Bonjour apparently is used to  
discover a number of network services, not just printers.  Per the  
help file:

Bonjour (formerly known as "Rendezvous") is an Apple protocol for  
discovering file, print, chat, music sharing, and other services on  
IP networks.
