[Xastir] Xastir-Hardy: logging into the VM?

How many people would prefer to not have to log in to an xastir vm, say
have the machine boot and automatically run xastir? Last year during a
vm discussion on this list I prepared a set of patches that would do
that with a xubuntu xastir vm. One run-level would boot and run xastir
full-screen without a window manager so that there would be nothing to
confuse newbies. The vm would shut shutdown when xastir exited. The goal
was to have the vm behave more like an application than an operating
system. A second run-level would automatically start xastir with a
window manager for people who want a window manager, and a third
runlevel would boot up to a login prompt as is default for an xubuntu vm.

I've still got the mods if the vm managers are interested, and I'm
willing to support them.
