[Xastir] tamu down Tiger2006SE alternatives?

Thanks Curt,

Will go through the wiki as the instructions were pretty complete.
I had saved about 10 of the surrounding states from tamu from the 2006
SE version before it went away. Am tracking model rockets with it and
those maps were good enough for that.
I'm a Slackware script puppy from 1994 so I had no problems compiling.
Only thing not in the build is GPSMAN and AX.25. Everything else is there. Since I'm not using the machine for specialized purposes, it works fine without AX25. For Slack 13 I did have to pick up binaries for festival and speech tools but they were just released on the 31st of January. I couldn't get them to build on slack 13. Other than that, I really like Xastir and the folks who work on it have done one heck of a job. I find it more intuitive then UI-View. I amazed my rocket buddies with the program and how easy it was to just drop 2006SE maps in and go with it.
I'll try to work with some of the other online resources and see if I can
get a newer mapset up.
I have a bad habit of running as root for 16 years and haven't messed myself up at all. I do have to build WINE from a user account though.
Yeah, I know, I know. Bad karma but I stay away from the dark side and have an excellent Netopia DSL modem with a good firewall.
I've only just learned how to get some root privileges through KDE for a user account in the last 6 months but it still wouldn't allow me to fire up the festival server from a user account. Weird. Thanks again for the advice. Like I said, I'm a script puppy and do the best I can.

                         Kurt KC9LDH
