Not only that, but if you "--with-postgis" or "--with-mysql" on configure,
it reports those things as "DEVELOPER OPTIONS" indicating that they aren't
even "ADVANCED." PostGIS and MySQL support has never been anything but an
"experimental" feature, and given Mike's problems, I daresay that nobody but
Paul has ever run using it.
Yesterday I updated the Wiki page on "Persistence" to discourage the perception
that this is a production capability.
Mike, you might want to write directly to Paul and see if you can work out
something. He is probably not reading the mailing list these days, but you
should be able to find his email address in the archives.
It might be the case that you, Mike, will have to hunt down the bug yourself,
since you appear to be the first and only user of that code.
