[Xastir] maps are not indexing

I recently installed Xastir 10.4 on Linux Mint 9, I did this before when OSM came online. My maps arent not in the Map chooser.
I tried this command in the CVS 10.4 
 sudo cp -r /tmp/maps/* /usr/local/share/xastir/maps
It doesnt seem to work as I get "command not found". Is this where my problem is?
