Well the issue with lesstiff really needs to be fix within Debian, as we
all know ubuntu is sourced from that and then any mods then sent back to
Debian so at this point no I haven't reported a bug against it due to
the fact that it's really a X-server issue but a "work around" can be
achieved! this may fix XASTIR but I can't say for sure that it doesn't
break something else...

However, I'll do some searching on launchpad/Debian bug tracker and see
what info is available...
