Tom,
I have XASTIR running on a BBB (MUCH thanks to the great guys on this SIG) and I guess it redraws a little faster than what you are seeing with the RPi. I'm using the 7" touch LCD cape, instead of an external monitor.
Funny though, I just completed building a Pi-TNC tonight and getting an RPi B+ configured to use it. So far, through a console connection, it's running well monitoring packets. I haven't tried it with XASTIR yet, but I do have it installed. Jason Rausch - Amateur Radio Callsign: KE4NYV

Curiosity regarding different models.
Using the Raspberry B it presently takes about 27 seconds to redraw the screen
when changing map positions or zoom levels. This is using the on-line
OSM_Tiled_Mapnik.geo.
Has anyone utilised the BeagleBoneBlack and seen a dramatic increase in speed in
redrawing these maps?
