Hi Tom

Thanks for your hack! I realize that it is not meant as a fix but at least it got things working here!

Joe

On Thu, Dec 06, 2018 at 09:53:17AM -0500, we recorded a bogon-computron collision of the <joe at laferla.ca> flavor, containing:

But I rebooted the pi by cycling the power on the pi and ran xastir with the language fix and am happy to report that it has been stable now for almost one hour. I have not tried to run xastir without the language fix. I may try that later. It looks like the language fix is good. I shall add the fix to my xastir shortcut. Thanks all.

This is not a "language fix" it's a hack that might have other consequences.
As I said, in the past I found that sometimes setting "LANG" to "C" also
caused problems in dialog boxes (at the time, I believe it was the
object modification dialog that was frustrating me). It might be why
some folks here are having trouble in message creation dialogs.

This points to a deeper problem with how the code was modified to handle
Greek, and that code needs to be reviewed and fixed. It also points to
a deeper problem with how Xastir depends on the locale settings.

I wonder if this has to do with the tnc because the packet data from the net display correctly all the time. I have restarted the tnc pi several times but I will try tomorrow to do it again, maybe the two problems were feeding on each other. I will let you know the results.
