And if you do work out how to make macports apply a patch for you before
it tries to build, this is the patch it should apply:
-----SNIP-----
diff --git a/src/interface.c b/src/interface.c

#define SIGRET void
#endif // SIGRET
+// Older versions of glibc <= 2.3.0 and <= OS X 10.5 do not have this
+// constant defined
+#ifndef AI_NUMERICSERV
+#define AI_NUMERICSERV 0
+#endif
//extern pid_t getpgid(pid_t pid);
extern void port_write_binary(int port, unsigned char *data, int length);
-----SNIP-------
Cut and paste the lines between the "SNIP" lines into a file, and see if
you can make heads or tails out of this page:
https://guide.macports.org/chunked/development.patches.html
for how to apply it properly so that Macports uses it. I believe the section
that is applicable is section 4.5.2.
I'm sorry I can't help you more on this. Perhaps someone else on the list
is more familiar with macports than I am and can give more explicit guidance.
