Indeed that was the problem.

But /usr/local/xastir/* shouldn't be where user stuff is stored, data 
owned by the user should be in .xastir, IMHO.
(We don't look for maps there, hmm. Maybe a .xastir/maps/ directory for 
personal maps? I don't want to try to code that. :-P )
