We put our project up on Sourceforge during the last day or two of
January 2002. There weren't any downloadable files available in
January. By March we had risen to the 90+ percentile out of all of
the projects on Sourceforge (of which there are 50,000+). The only
month (after our initial ramp-up) that we slipped a bit was
September, and you can see by the numbers that we didn't really
slip. Some other projects at SourceForge must have been
_particularly_ busy that month. Our average ranking has been 535
from April on, out of 53,791 projects currently on SourceForge.

We've had 1,513 CVS commits (138 changes/month average for 11
months, or about 4.5 CVS changes per day!), 3979 downloads, and 115
bugs fixed during that time (10.45 bugs/month). 62,696 web page
hits isn't bad either (avg of 5700/month). Combine all of the
feature requests, patches, service requests, and bugs fixes
together, and we've had 324, which equates to darned-near one bugfix
or feature request implemented per day average for eleven months.
Wow!

Downloads are quite interesting: An average of 362 downloads for
the last eleven months (since we had something to download). Of
this, the downloadable file "xastir-1.1.0-i386-1.tgz" accounts for
1039 of the downloads, about 26% of the total. That's the only
binary file we have available, and is for Slackware 8.0 (if I
remember correctly). A lot of users are downloading that one by
mistake (my opinion). Take that file out of the stats and we have
2940 downloads total, or 267 downloads/month for eleven months.
That's probably a more realistic number (for downloads that actually
might get used). Still not too shabby.

Just thought you people might like to know these stats. I'm awfully
proud of this project, as are the other nine developers (and
especially the original author). You should be too!
